Education:Giving girls a Fair Chance at Life
Why We Do It.
In many informal settlements communities, girls face overwhelming barriers to education; poverty, early marriage, cultural norms, and neglect. When families are forced to choose who goes to school, boys are often prioritized. Girls are left at home to care for siblings or pushed into marriage as early as 13.
Without education, these girls are trapped in a cycle of poverty and vulnerability. They face higher risks of early pregnancy, gender based violence, and unemployment. Education is not just a privilege, it is a basic right and a path to lasting change.
At Tulip, we believe every girl, regardless of where she is born, deserves the chance to learn, grow, and reach her full potential. Education is the bridge from hopelessness to opportunity. It gives girls the tools they need to change their lives and, eventually, their communities.
What We Do
Our education program is designed to remove the barriers that prevent girls in the informal settlements from staying in school and succeeding. We do not just send them to school, we walk with them on the journey.
Full Sponsorship
We provide comprehensive educational support for girls in public secondary boarding schools. This includes tuition, accommodation, school uniforms, textbooks, personal hygiene kits, and transport. These essentials ensure that a girl can focus on learning without worrying about basic needs.
Mentorship and Monitoring
Beyond fees, we offer regular mentorship and school follow ups. Our staff visit the girls at school to monitor progress, provide emotional support, and celebrate milestones. This consistent presence builds trust and motivation.
Family and Community Engagement
We work with families to shift attitudes about girls’ education. By involving parents and local leaders, we create a support system around each girl at home, in school, and in the community.
The Impact
Confidence and Academic Growth
With the right support, our girls thrive. They move from struggling with self doubt to excelling in school. They begin to dream bigger and believe in their potential.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
An educated girl earns more, supports her family, and invests in her children’s future. Each year of secondary school increases her income potential and reduces the likelihood of early marriage.
Healthier, Safer Lives
Education delays child marriage and promotes informed decisions about health. Girls who stay in school are more likely to raise healthy, educated children, breaking generational cycles of poverty.
Leadership and Influence
Our graduates become role models. They return to their communities with purpose, ready to lead, advocate, and uplift others.
Why It Matters
What sets Tulip apart is our holistic approach. We invest in the whole girl academically, emotionally, and spiritually. We walk with her from her first day of school until she steps into adulthood empowered and equipped.
