Why We Do It
Education alone is not enough to change a girl’s future. Even after completing secondary school, many girls in informal settlements, communities are unsure of what comes next. They have big dreams but little information. Many have never met someone working in a professional field. They do not know how to apply for college, find internships, or even identify the careers that suit their strengths.
Without guidance, it is easy for them to settle for less than they are capable of. Some may take on low paying, unstable jobs simply because they do not see another option. Others may delay further education due to a lack of direction or confidence. This is not because they lack potential, but because no one has ever helped them explore it.
At Tulip, we believe every girl has unique God given talents, gifts, and passions. We believe that discovering these early and building toward them intentionally is essential. Career development is not just about jobs. It is about identity, confidence, and vision. It is about helping each girl step into the future with purpose.
What We Do
Our career development program is designed to help girls not only imagine a better future but to prepare for it practically. Through structured activities, mentorship, and exposure, we help girls build a strong foundation for long term success.
Career Exploration Workshops
We host workshops that introduce girls to a variety of career paths including medicine, education, law, engineering, arts, business, and more. Professionals from different fields are invited to share their journeys, speak about challenges, and offer real world insights.
These sessions open the girls’ eyes to what is possible and help them connect classroom learning to real life applications.
Mentorship and Counseling
Girls are paired with mentors or counselors who help them identify their strengths, interests, and values. Through one on one sessions, they explore what careers may align with their personalities and passions. They also receive support in goal setting, course selection, and planning for further studies.
This kind of guidance is crucial in helping girls make informed and confident decisions about their future.
Skill Building and Readiness.
We offer training in essential life and workplace skills such as public speaking, interview preparation, resume writing, digital literacy, and time management. These practical tools give girls a head start in navigating life after school and competing in the job market.
The Impact
When a girl discovers what she wants to become and knows how to get there, everything changes. She becomes more focused, motivated, and disciplined. Her academic performance improves because she is no longer just attending school. She is working toward something meaningful.
